Stark James LLC, comprised of architects Brian Stark and Wesley James, have turned an old used car lot into an 8 unit apartment complex out of 16 steel shipping containers. Each unit is approximately 740-square feet. Once inside, aside from some intentionally left forklift marks on the floor, you would never know you are in a shipping container.
The goal of this project was to create a market-rate apartment complex out of these massively surplussed containers. So far they seem to be successful in their goal. The only downside for the shipping container housing industry is the lack of financing available. The saga continues!
